Container Overview

The application container is a package of descriptors (known as a deployment package) that describe the interrelationships among each component of a software application and their relationships to resources outside the cloud.

Application containers define an operational method managing true application availability. A container is comprised of:

• One or more virtual machines
• Availability levels
• Network capabilities
• Performance definitions

Application containers group together:

• One or more workloads
• Compute and storage requirements
• Availability requirements
• Business requirements

Containers can also be started and stopped.
