Tags Overview

Tags associate container definitions with infrastructure behaviors. The tag is a descriptor that can be associated with any object involving instance management or deployment within Stratus Cloud Workload Services. Tags also enable association between disparate object types; for example, an instance and hardware. A standard set of availability tags are included with the Workload Services; however, new tags can be created by the IT administrator and used for association. Tags map applications to infrastructure locations to ensure that you meet your Service Level Agreement and business objectives. Once an application is deployed, tags may be manipulated to alter application component behavior; either permanently or on a schedule. Tags are grouped into tag categories, and define desired behaviors when consuming cloud resources. When a tag is placed on an application or on an instance, tag management drives the workload placement to locations in both the physical and software infrastructures.
