Adding Images

Add images using the Images page. To add an image, you must have an image file that is a supported virtual machine image for one or more Stratus Cloud Workload Services-compatible hypervisors:

• KVM
• Xen
• VMware
• Hyper-V

To add an image:

1. In the main menu, click Images to display the Images page.
2. On the Images page, click Add Image at the top right of the page to display the Add Image panel.

3. In the Add Image panel, complete the following fields and components:

   • Name Type a name for the image. This name displays in the list view on the Images page.
   • Description Type a description of the image. The description displays below the image name in the listing on the Images page.
   • State: Select Active or Inactive.
   • Disk Format: Click the drop-down box and specify the disk format (image) type.
   • Permission: All Tenants(Default): Selecting All Tenants allows the image to be deployed by any tenant.

   • Permission: Specify the tenants that have permission to deploy this image by deselecting Permission: All Tenants, clicking the Permit to drop-down box, and selecting individual tenants.

     Note: Selecting individual tenants may be important as there are some images that have licensing values associated with them, so you may need to restrict the locations to which they are deployed.

     As you select tenants from Permit to, your selections appear in the Selected list. Click in the selected tenant to remove it from the Selected list.

   • Properties: Optionally, click Add Property to specify an image property; to specify multiple properties, click Add Property for each new property.
   • Quota: You can specify recommended minimum values to be associated with the image. If no values are specified, the images can be deployed using any value. Otherwise, specify the following quota requirements:
     • Minimum Storage (GB)
     • Minimum Memory (MB)
   • Upload Image: Click Choose a file to display the Choose File to Upload dialog box. Select an image file to upload, and click Open.
   • Service Level Definitions: Define the image service level definitions:
     • Hypervisor Type: Select one or more hypervisors for the new image.
   • Note: (Optional) Type additional information about the new image.
4. Click either:
   • Add, and you are returned to the Images page. The new image is added to the Images list, and is ready for deployment.
   • The down arrow at the right of Add, and select Add and Add to Service Catalog Applications. This option takes you to the Add Deployment Package page, with the imported image appearing in the new deployment package.
